Surrounded by mighty 5,000 m peaks and Europe’s highest mountain, Mt.Elbrus (5,642 m), Mestia is a skier’s dream, situated in the heart of Svaneti, one of Georgia’s most historic and unique areas. 

The Svaneti region of Georgia is a remote & beautiful area of historic fortified villages dating back to the 12-13th centuries, high mountains, breathtaking views, deep snow, superb skiing & few people.

 The area around Mestia has recently seen improvement and the creation of 2 local ski resorts - forested Hatsvali & alpine Tetnuldi, providing modern ski lifts in an ancient land.

Hatsvali ski resort is located about 8km away from Mestia center; Resort offers skiers 4 ski lifts and 7 km ski trails for beginners and intermediates. With a peak elevation of 2348 m, it offers skiers and snowboarders a 920 m vertical drop.

 Tetnuldi a ski resort located 15km away from Mestia. A destination with 5 ski lifts and 30 km of ski runs offers to the visitors unlimited off-piste and opportunities for freeriding and Heli-ski. With a peak elevation of 3160 m, it offers skiers and snowboarders a 900 m vertical drop.

Winter activities

Svaneti is surrounded by 4 of the 10 highest peaks of the Caucasus Mountain; with untouched powder snow and magnificent mountains offering numerous options of different terrains. It makes the best conditions for heli-skiing adventures. It’s a perfect place for everyone to discover a new passion and live precious moments.

The mountains of the Svaneti are covered in a deep blanket of snow from December to April.

As the resort grows and develops, tourists are also offered unique ski-tours, to take you to places that have never skied before, including overnight stays in the high mountains. And when you are not skiing, enjoy the historical and architectural sightseeing from the medieval era. 

Summer activities

It’s not surprising that Svaneti has always been a popular summertime holiday destination with plenty of possibilities for everyone: hiking, trekking, mountaineering, horse riding, jeep tours, paragliding, etc. Svaneti is a heaven for trekkers. You will find trails of different lengths and difficulty levels with great sights on the way: panoramas, glaciers, waterfalls, forests, meadows, and amazing culture-heritage.
